Okay. So yeah I’ve looked at this before and would you mind if I gave some advice not related to help?
Sure.
Layering issues are annoying.
Okay. I LOVE the art so far, the houses in particular so I’m really excited for this. But just don’t fall into the pit that I’ve seen a lot of other RPG’s fall into. They’re are literally monsters everywhere. Now this might be advice you’ve heard before but still here it is:
There are 5 main parts to any good RPG:
Exploration
Pretty self-explanatory, players should have lots of areas to explore and feel excited next time the reach a new area.
Social Interaction
When players interact with NPC’s it should matter. What they say to NPC should effect the ending of the game. Which brings us to
Multiple Endings/Secrets
While not required, these increase the replay-ability of your game, making players want to come back again and again to play.
Combat
Combat is important! Bosses should be well-crafted and exciting and normal combat shouldn’t become a strain for the players
Save Spots
Once again, not required but if your game is going to be a big one, it certainly helps!
Blending the Main 3
Games shouldn’t be too much combat or social interaction or exploration. A nice blend of all 3 will make your game appeal to more player types!
Excuse how I should like a robot and how my grammar is bad. I’m still tired.
- maybe one of the employees can be a sentry, and it says binary code so you have to find a translator to find out what it says (credit to @CustomCoaster)
-
Ticket: a one way trip to a predetermined location
-
Money conversion: Try making another type of cash that can only buy certain things. Maybe have a small game [1] where you pay to play and you win the new cash depending on the outcome.
-
Maps: in rpgs, it’s useful to know where you are and where you need to go. Maybe sell some maps so that the player can navigate the world easier. Or, maybe a treasure map as a fun side quest.
ex. a quick memory game/guessing game ↩︎
