Hey everyone! I’m currently making a jungle themed battle royale game and I’m on the search for a unique and interesting story to add into the jungle. I’m open to any ideas that could deepen the story and bring the jungle to life. I would really like lore about a hidden tribe or an ancient city. If you have any ideas, please come help!
maybe accidentally coming across a mural for such a temple, or a rune?
try and go deeper into the “adventure” or “archeology” side of the story
and then you take apart in a side quest, and the end reward would be abundant- and helpful to the player
if you can give me more details on the current lore, or ideology- I can help “cement” it, or improve it
You could add a hidden treehouse covered in vines
(Game theory music in the backround)
Is there any main characters in the lore? If not, let’s start with that!
Maybe they could be npc’s around the map and you do stuff for them?
Idk ._.
I don’t really want a main character. I kinda want an ancient tribe living in a secret cave or something.
Maybe some costruction peeps want to destr0y the jungle and make a city or somethin’?
I kinda want like a whole backstory of the jungle, involving ancient tribes, and ruins.
Essay time:
Once you were traveling around in a boat and a unknown creature destoryed the boat and you crash landed on the shore of an island then while grabbing materials you found a temple and then after you went in and found gold you toke it then you had to battle the creature of the temple and after that you got out you stumbled opon a person trying to steal your gold th—
okay i’ll do this later
Maybe make it have like the maya ruins just… more gimkit styled?
In an old, vine taken treehouse, you find 3 ancient coins, and a dry, ragged piece of paper. Upon reading the paper, you see that the 3 coins can be placed in the 3 Runes of the Ancient Tribes of [Blah, reference a cool former, Niblet, you name it] The 3 Runes are spread apart hidden around the jungle. When you place the final coin, you get a mini cutscene where the soul of something speaks to you. He gives you one final challenge. When you complete it, you get a legendary item. Elaborate on this idea as you please.
Maybe like ancient versions of echo and vortex’s rivalry?
Well you could have a temple/cathedral where a group of survivors hid during a hurricane
There’s a music album named EPIC so I got confused for a second
Once there was an island so plan and bold just some grass, dirt, rocks and sand then some gims found the land and settled there it grew bigger and bigger
BUMP
Lore: Camo is trying to find a hidden tribe of gims
I’ll go off of this.
Long Lore Rant
After gaining this so called ‘Legendary Item’, you are given a glimpse into the past due to some magic force that allows you to see a bit of lost history from this jungle. The things you see in this vision are not normal however.
What you see in this vision is a tribe, an ancient one at that. Presumably a tribe from around 1000 years ago. They are performing a ritual by circling a massive fire and chanting with those same 3 runes inscribed into the ground in a triangle pattern.
The further you progress through the game the more visions of this tribe you have, each further elaborating on what exactly happened in the jungle that made this tribe either d1e, or mysteriously disappear. What caused them to disappear is up to you, but here’s some examples of some visions you could see:
- A vision of the tribe members maybe sacrificing someone or something to an altar of sorts?
- A vision of the tribe on a hunt, maybe trying to get revenge or track down whatever is taking their men from them.
- A vision of how the tribal members were able to figure out what the Runes could do, and the construction of an ancient temple that is now ruins somewhere in the jungle.
- A vision of the Tribe maybe meeting another tribe in a battle, or maybe in a peaceful situation. It’s up to you.
Lastly, you could have a vision of the Ancient city at its peak, and then maybe cut to its destruction, and whatever may have caused the once great city to crumble to nothing more than ruins.
You could also maybe add notes and pieces of Papyrus or scrolls of some kind that are written in the Tribal dialect, which you can either figure out by progressing or decoding the messages written in Visions. Maybe it’d be wise to have one vision simply be the decoding stone or scroll or something, and make it easily accessible.
All in the name of Lore.
Here’s an easier version:
Simplified
Have the player experience Visions of lore and of the past tribe that once roamed this jungle Biome. Show the player their progression and advance in technology, all the way up to their downfall and whatever may have caused it.
Keep in mind, these are Tribal people we’re talking about. Don’t make them too civilized, otherwise it won’t have a historical and or Ancient effect on your players.
C-c just cooked with the lore
Good job!
Here’s what I cooked up…
Jungle Lore Idea: The Lost Tribe of Elowen
In the heart of the dense jungle lies the secret of the Lost Tribe of Elowen, a civilization that has thrived in isolation for centuries. Legends say that they are guardians of the jungle, possessing ancient knowledge and abilities that connect them intimately with nature. Elowen has extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna, harnessing the power of the jungle to protect its people and maintain balance in the ecosystem.
Backstory:
Long ago, the tribe made a pact with the spirits of the jungle. This pact bestowed them with the ability to communicate with animals, heal nature, and manipulate the growth of plants. However, this power came with a heavy burden—they must never reveal their location to outsiders, or face dire consequences. Over time, they began to fade from the world’s memory, their existence becoming mere myth.
The Ancient City Ruins:
At the center of the jungle lies the ruins of an ancient city called Balanthra, believed to be the birthplace of the Elowen tribe. Once a bustling trade hub, it is now overgrown and entwined with nature. The city is littered with mysterious artifacts, including sacred stones that resonate with the jungle’s energy. Some believe that these stones can grant great power to those who can unlock their secrets.
Conflict:
Recently, treasure hunters and explorers have begun to encroach on the territory of the Elowen tribe, driven by tales of untold riches and unmatched power within the ruins. As the harmony of the jungle is threatened, the tribe must decide whether to reveal themselves to protect their heritage or to fight from the shadows, using their unique abilities to defend their home.
Gameplay Elements:
-
Players could choose to ally with the Elowen tribe, gaining access to special skills like communication or plant manipulation to gain advantages in battles.
-
Exploration of Balanthra could unveil quests to recover lost artifacts, solve ancient puzzles, and combat treasure hunters.
-
Players must navigate moral choices: Help the tribe preserve their secrets, or exploit the power of the jungle for personal gain.
This story allows you to immerse players in a rich narrative while they engage in the game, deepening their experience in the jungle setting.
