"Transform Into A Boss" Mechanic

I was experimenting with this new mechanic and it has turned out really good. Here’s how you can make it in your own games!

What you will need

1 Sentry
2 Wire Repeaters
1 Notification
1 Overlay
1 Button
1 Medieval Banner Prop

Step 1:
Place the sentry and change it’s skin if you want. Set it to hold a gadget and make sure it drops that same gadget. Then get the button and set it to not visible in game. Put it right on the sentry and set the button message to Turn Into Boss. Set the button to 3 seconds and finally set it to inactive when the game starts.

Step 2:
Wire the sentry to the button so the button activates when the sentry is eliminated. (also make sure the sentry doesn’t respawn) Then put the medieval banner on top of the sentry and set it to not be visible on game start. Wire the sentry to the banner and set it to appear when the sentry is eliminated. Then wire the button to the banner so when the button is pressed it disappears. Lastly, wire the banner to the button so that when the banner is deactivated the button turns off.

Step 3:
When the button is press, you turn into a boss and gain an ability! Place down the notification and wire it to appear when the button is pressed. Say in the notification that you have been transformed into a boss and that you have gained an ability. Place down an overlay and set it to a button that says use ability. Use a wire repeater to deactivate it as soon as it is pressed. Then use another wire repeater so it turns back on after a certain amount of seconds (the cool down time). Also, make sure to set the overplay scopes to player and not global.

That’s it! You’ve Finished! For abilities, you can do anything from health regen to damage boost. One idea I had was when you use your ability you get teleported for a quick escape. Tell me if you have any other ideas!

Remove the idea-catalog as this doesn’t have ideas but shows how to make a mechanic.

Nice guide Neon! Although it needs more dropdowns, 1 per step. (ex

And maybe have the button action be called “gain an ability”

Could you add a link to a randomizer or add one yourself so that those who want multiple bosses to spawn randomly or gain a random ability when they become a boss don’t have to search elsewhere? It would be a nice touch to this guide especially for battle Royale style maps. [1]

Thank you for that!

  1. Otherwise, good guide ↩︎

Nice guide! This sure would be useful for 1 vs all style games.
