I need help on ideas for my top down game.
Enemies, popular settings in the past, and additional lore would be helpful.
Basically, you’re a player who gets lost and finds ruins of a time travel portal.
There is a war going on in your country, and with the portal you have the opportunity
to fix it all.

No add a sort of adventure amongst floating islands above an ocean of gray water.

If you have the season ticket, the ruins props would be absolutely perfect for this – otherwise you could use broken glass & space junk for small objects & shrapnel as battlefields typically have…
other than that, consider the environment they’re fighting in – where can they hide? Where is there open space? Is the terrain dense or sparse? Suitable for an ambush, or not? Use bushes, barriers, trees, & high places. If it’s platformer, you can use hills as hiding spots for soldiers as well.

I use They/Them/Their since we don’t know the Player’s gender.

Lets get going!

The Player was going on a road trip to visit their parents who were on the brink of their lives. They were a war veteran, and spent 10 years fighting in the war. Time to go back to your parents. After a while of driving in the amidst the GPS broke down and malfunctioned. Also the fuel of your vehicle is running low. So you go and take a pit-stop at the Gas Station and while the vehicle fuels up you go grab a snack.
Once you get to checkout you see a mysterious man. He was the cashier but something about him was just off.
"We hadn’t had anyone here in the past few days."The Cashier said.
"I would think that more people would come here. We have the best reviews on Google!"The cashier continued.
“Why would anyone come to a gas station in the middle of nowhere?” You smile, laughing at the jokes of the cashier.
"What do you mean by a gas station? This is an Electric Station… gas stations are so 21st Century. We don’t even use fuel powered vehicles, only electricity. Also, we aren’t in the middle of nowhere, this is an Industrial Valley!"The Cashier said, looking at the window.
You turn around and look at the window. A skyscraper loomed over the building.
"What Happened?"The Player’s jaw dropped.
Then the player goes and explores the world and gathers technology to help them win the war.
That’s all I got.
