The Trigger is not the Best Device for Blocks

Intro

You would think that the trigger is the best device for blocks, right? Wrong. What if you told me that there was no way to add 500 memory, and 500 memory only for blocks. You would be wrong. What about the notification device? Wrong again. But your worries are now lost, because today I will show you how to do this!

What device do I use?

You can use just about any device with channel blocks! But you don’t just grab a random device with these channels, naw that’s memory consuming, my friend, you use one that you already have in-game.
Also, don’t use wire pulse blocks, that adds 10 due to the wires.
Take a text you have lying around your map for example:

You can literally do all your blocks in here, no extra device needed!

What did we learn?

  • We learned how to add 500 memory for blocks, no extra memory needed.
  • We learned to only use devices we already have.
  • We learned to use channels, not wires, our goal is 500, wires add 10 memory.

Pros

  • Memory Saving.

Cons

  • Not the most organized.

Summary

Before y’all start a flame war, remember, basically, you are losing the organizational properties of another device, but you get 15 more memory, and if you do this a lot, the 15 memory stacks up. This could be a really good way to save memory, but you might become less organized. Remember, it’s a trade off. Nothing in this world is free.

Anyways, hope you learned a thing or two, and have a wonderful day!

I know right?! I had this idea a couple of months ago, but I never thought about posting it on the forums until now.

I unfortunately have an argument against this, not like angry but friendly debate.

What about big projects or people that like organising? They can’t put masses of block code everywhere… especially in random text blocks…OW I CUT MY FINGER

hope we don’t start a flame war and organizing yes you can still do this and big projects you can still do this and this can function as a text on a map and a storage for block code

Still, people would prefer if their block code wasn’t in text blocks buts rather in triggers because well…they just do.

yawn

I’ll continue this tomorrow, see you some sunny day

The only reason I don’t do this is because I’m used to going straight to triggers, and because when I see text devices, I usually use them for text and forget about this lol.
But nice guide/psa/thingy! Hope people pick this up when learning block code so they don’t grow not-as-good habits!

Actually in terms of memory-efficiency, the Notification is the cheapest option for block code, with a grand total of 515 memory for one block. I’m pretty sure if you leave the notification title and content blank and make the blocks trigger on a channel, the notification shouldn’t send. @Bardy_2913

Yeah, I know. That’s what happens to me sometimes, I forget I can do this lol

No, I don’t want that. I want ya’ll to use devices you already have in game, that way it is basically 500 memory for 1 block.

Well, not really. The memory you placed down for that device is also counted. Sometimes, you can’t do that because of devices that already have channels in them or devices part of a complicated device system. If you put a block in that complicated device system, it might break the whole system.

I’m using 1 device for 2 things. 500 for blocks, 200 for text, so yes, I know what you are saying, but you are not seeing the full picture.

reuse, reduce, and recycle!
EXACTLY (lol I am the leader of the recycling team so I love recycling.)

pretty useful

I actually use the text device!!!

i don’t understand.

Maybe use 1 text, and one text only, and have the channel end with “Block,” so you know its a block.

And also memorize the text you are using, or another device.

Also me who can’t memorise anything lol

I get your point and it’s valid, and we had a sort of friendly debate. This is what the forums are for I guess.

I’m glad we have these types of debates. We can find whats good and bad in the topic post :D
