I know that if I jump in midair I wont get a double jump

but If I jump off a platform in say, don’t look dowm

This is how the Gimkit team coded it. If you fall off, that counts as a jump.

Pretty much anytime you disconnect from a platform it counts it as a jump.

sometimes when you fall off a platform it counts as a jump which is why you cant double jump how you can fix this is by makeing the platforms a bit closer to each other or wait a bit then double jump. hope this helps
