Sonic Unleashed Style combat ideas

Hi! I thought of an idea to make a map based around a combat system similar to the one seen in Sonic Unleashed because I find that combat system fun and also to fuel my Sonic Unleashed addiction.
here is the format for ideas

Name: name of the move
Damage: how much damage the move does in total
Inputs: a string of inputs to input the move, for simplicity, we will use letters to represent the inputs, X is a fast but weak attack that deals 10 damage, while Y is a strong yet slow attack that deals 25 damage, you can string these together to do combos. for example a string is like "XYXXXY"

Ideas already planned

Finisher: when an enemy is low enough on HP, the player can press a button to start a QTE that if the player does successfully, will instantly defeat the enemy. however If it is failed, the player will take 20 damage from the enemy it tried to defeat. (QTEs arent required to defeat the enemy, they are just there to defeat it quicker)

if i may ask, can you explain to me what is Sonic Unleashed? i havent played it yet and i wanna get an idea of the game so i can come up with an idea.

How much health do the enemies have?

It’s just so that I can make sure I’m not making a move too OP.

Sonic Unleashed is the one game where Sonic turns into a “werehog”, or something like that…

Basically, think of a sonic game, that’s how sonic plays in daytime levels, however during the night sonic plays like a PS2 era beat-em up game.[1]

  1. funny thing is that I actually really enjoy the werehog levels, I think they are a nice lil level that shows that sometimes is okay to take it slow sometimes. ↩︎

depends on the enemies, however most have a minimum of 130

Okay, In that case:

  • Rising Shadow Strike.
  • 50 DMG.
  • YYXX

This move should probably cast a brief stun to make up for its lower damage output.
I made the string combo simple, as I don’t expect this move to really be used much.

As for a finisher? Maybe change the name to “Rising Shadow Obliteration”.

It can be like a move where you charge it up by dealing damage to the enemies, and onces it charged it you become like faster, more stronger, and heal faster.
its kinda like a ultimate.
for the string… yeah imma go with XXYYX. im not good with move ideas so feel free to use another idea.

funnily enough, you accidentally named an sonic Unleashed mechanic lol.
basically as the player damages enemies they increase a meter known as the “Unleashed Meter” once fully charged the player can press a button to do higher damage and attack faster for a short period of time.

Well- Since I’m here I might as well make one right?

For another “Unleashed Meter” move, I can think of this:

A Hidden Light’s Revival

  • Upon filling up the “Unleashed Meter”, the player is able to activate “A Hidden Light’s Revival”, which gives them 2x damage output, and the ability to revive upon death. [1]
  • As an additional boost, upon revival with the Ultimate, the player gains a “Blade of Light” that can be used on a singular enemy to bring them down to half HP.

If you want a reference image for the “Blade of Light”, you can use Higuruma’s “Executioner Blade” from JJK.

I’d imagine this Ultimate should be a last resort, and should take a while to charge up.

(I fixed the image by the way.)

  1. The player can only revive ONE time. ↩︎
