Welcome to the community, I hope you enjoy your time here!
Near weekday mornings, Gimkit reviews each game to make sure it fits the guidelines and that take a couple hours to two days at most I think.
Wixsite like you said, or you can advertise to your classmates, other than that not really another option.
I really don’t know what to do for this one, maybe try cutscenes but that’s the best option I can give.
In my opinion, no, unless it’s for a specific purpose like a chatroom or a story map. Depends, most kids these days have shorter attention spans and would rarely look into detail and rather get into the main event of it all.
I’ve considered making short cutscenes, which could definitely work, it’s just that transitions in/out of cutscenes are essentially impossible to make which renders everything looking abrupt or low-quality. Additionally some players hate not being in control.
Idk, I could definitely pull it off but I’ll have to see.
Early Mornings on the weekdays. around 12am or so. Gimkit can review the game quicker as fewer games get published that early in the morning. Takes 2 hours at least.
Wix is probably the best option. When you post your maps(because you are doing multiple) you can give away the author in the description because if the player liked the game then they can search up your author name and play it. But its a chance.
You can tell the lore through conversations. A sentry can give hints away to the lore while doing side quests or the main quest. You can also do Cutscenes like ChocolateisGood said.
I would play a map that is made of story and decoration. But players... not really. Gimkit Creative audiences are kids around 8-9, they don’t care about anything related to detail and hard work. Older Audience will admire the story and decoration of your game.
If on Weekdays, then around 2:00PM, people often check discovery around 4-5PM on weekdays because that’s when it opens (For student accounts,) i’d rather publish on weekends though.
You can advertise on, reddit, padlet, canva, discord, or most basic like you said, the wix. You can also just share in person with friends or classmates.
Easy, explain the lore over-time during the game with the players doing something to explore the story-line. Or just hint it overtime with parts of the game, if they don’t figure it out, womp womp.
Depends, is your game more of a fast-paced action game, or just a peaceful and relaxing type game, for fast-pace then don’t put too much effort into tiny details, if relaxing then yea, I’d focus a bit on some details and surrounding areas. Then again, I doubt anyone would care these days with the slop that’s on trending. And. players are literally little kids, I doubt they would care if you put very detailed designs. [1]
Yea, there’s a gimkit subreddit.
Welcome to the forums, I know your a bit new and I hope you enjoy your time here! ↩︎
Ah okay, I think I get it now. So that’s how I can get it reviewed fastest. But would that necessarily lead to it being seen by more people?
About this, when you search for maps on discovery, does it search for terms in the title, description, or creator’s name? Asking because I know the discovery search system is VERY skewed
welp, we’ll hope for the best then
By the way, I’ll probably be marking a solution now that I have a few replies. I know that the rules are pretty tight around here lol
As always pho thank you for the welcome and for contributing so much in your reply!!
Actually, I completely forgot about the reddit and discord for gkc. Thanks lol
Here’s to hoping some of the older players with a better taste in game design can help me out
Quick question before I post this, how do games end up on community picks? Is it from having enough plays or winning gimkit awards or something? I just really feel like what I’m making might have community pick potential and that way more people could learn decor and game design from my work :>
This part was just a guess… No it won’t necessarily be seen by people. The game will be first sent to the New Releases part of the Gimkit Creative Discovery. This is the part right after the Trending Section of the Discovery. If you get lucky then you can be able to get on the Trending Section and many people will play your map.
The Description most of the time If you search for a game very specific then it might show up. Game name’s are really common or really simple.
Either make your game have a really unique game name or make your game have your author’s name in the description so you can search that up.
But as you said the search engine is really funky,
The people around here are only strict if you are doing something that’s off limits on the forums. If your asking questions that are on topic then you can ask questions. Don’t be afraid.
hmm, maybe this isn’t too related to the original questions but I’ve been wondering if we have an estimated date for the next update. A lot of devices and props that would be really useful for my map are locked behind the season ticket, and from what I’ve heard they get released to all players when each update rolls around.
I believe the last update was early September [1] and I don’t know how long the intervals between updates usually are, so I’m not sure if I should keep my games in production to be overhauled when the next one is released before I publish, or if there’s going to be a long wait and I should just publish asap
Thanks!
OH ALSO, probably a silly thing to ask but should I draw my own thumbnail or make a logo for the thumbnail? was going to make a drawing but it could be hard to make three fully rendered pieces just so I can publish. And a lot of people have recommended making simple logos instead
(when custom shapes were released to all players) ↩︎
They used to be pretty fast in minor patches through out a month, but they have shifted to being anywhere between 2-5 months based off the changelog linked here:

Would be happy to help with prop design (though ShadowDragon44 is far better, maybe try finding him if she’s chill with pings) , and always love to write lore, though it seems you already have that covered. Oh, and welcome to the forum, good to finally see somebody civilized amongst all the new people posting redundant stuff.
A little idea… You can ask a thumbnail request from the forums. You don’t need to take the art if you don’t like it. You can draw as you said.
Also… its completely up to you whether you draw a logo or not. Thumbnails with alot of pieces work completely fine and render perfectly fine also.
gotta reply to all this (sorry people I left for a while)
Thanks tons for the offer I’m not sure if it would work out but you and shadowdragon always have some epic prop ideas. And yes, the lore is pretty much outlined already!
Too real and tysm
I’ve definitely considered thumbnail requests but I have a pretty specific view of how I want to make it. Although for sure it doesn’t hurt to try! There are some good artists on here.
Sometimes I hate to disappoint people by not picking theirs though D:
Thanks for this, I didn’t consider it. I guess popularity will skyrocket upon the release of dld2.
