So I created my first Gimkit map, but I got barely any plays. I’m wondering if there’s something wrong with my game? The game name is ‘The Great Escape’ and the thumbnail is of a spider in a cage. Please help!

Games barely get plays nowadays. You can try advertising in the wixsite. (Code sharing group)

We get a lot of post on the forum asking why their game won’t show up in Discovery. Well, there are a few reasons why that may be. So, I made this much needed guide with the help of others to help inform you on a few reasons why you can’t find your game.

Has Cuss Words
Has the following words in the game/description/title: Join, Code, Live

1. Eye catching thumbnail.
Your map will only be in the Newest section for so long. A good thumbnail will get people’s attention and make people think “Oh, this isn’t just a screen shot of the lobby or a random image or d#mb meme. This map might be good.” This is because maps usually match the thumbnail’s quality.
2. Make it replayable.
Once a player 1 short and straight path to the end with little to do is usually boring. If you’re skilled enough, you can use this to add to the gameplay.
2.1 Add secrets and lore/information.
Something to look for often makes people stick around. These can be a secret room for lore purposes and/or containing a gadget to use, or something that only has a chance to appear while playing. Maybe it’s a different fish jumping out of the water in a river, maybe it’s a shadow d3m0N appearing for 0.3 seconds. But whatever it is you add, make sure there’s a possible way people can find it, like a secret note or something to make your character say something like: “Something feels off…”. Or don’t, that’ll make it more secret.
3. Updates and content.
Once players find everything in the game, they usually stop playing because there’s nothing left to do. Make an update board/log in the lobby and put your Forum name so people can know there will be more to do sometime or be the one that gives you the idea for what to add next.
4. Link your map in your Forums bio.
This way, people that didn’t see it when it was in the Newest section can find it and play it.
Yes, I did just copy my post from a similar topic to this one.
Another thing to add is the school hours. Creative maps made by others are blocked during the 8am-4pm school hour range.

I think in August or September.
Common issue then, your game needs time to get plays, your best bet is to advertise in different places like the Wixsite.

Then the only way to find it is by accidentally seraching the name or if you link in you bio or post on the wixsite. Or by chance it’s one of the 8 or so in the daily Grab Bag section.

Please remove the game name this ain’t the wix so no advertising
games . 2. If you have the cash and dedication then take down your game (unpublish) and then republish it. It’s likely that due to the fact you never got many plays when you first published that this happened. 4. Go to preferences, profile on homepage.
@Warrior_Of_Death16 stop going off topic. This is ridiculous. If you’re not helping the topic don’t post.

You don’t need to post compliments to people, it clutters things up with unnecessary posts, but thanks. :3
