Mechanics for my semi-puzzle game

basically you have to blast a blast ball through a path, and get it to the finish zone to complete the level. I have a few mechanics in mind, but I’d like some ideas.
mechanics I’m going to add:
fences/gates which will be breakable, standing in the ball[s] path
levels where you have limited amount of ammo, running out will cause you to lose the level
sentry’s in the way, blasting at you

Sentries that will activate sometimes
They will try to push the ball around

My take:

Have some electrical boxes lying around, powering pits or ball zones. If the ball goes into a powered zone, the whole puzzle restarts.

Take 2: Floors will have different coloring, telling you what to do. For example:
Green might be normal, red might mean you are timed to go through that area, yellow means the ball can’t hit walls and blue means you have to spam fire, and purple means you have limited ammo. Combinations may include Yellow/Purple, Blue/Purple, Purple/Red, Yellow/Red and Red/Blue. Blue/Purple would be MISERABLE.
