Hello!!!
I need ideas for my game, specifically buildings and lore. Any ideas are welcome, And I have already started the process of making the map. it is going to be a forest cottage core (look it up if you don’t know what it is) style game. You can go on quests, and the main npc/characters are magical butterfly creatures, talking flowers, and gnomes. There is also a witch! ( main villain.) Need help with the lore behind the characters, and the structures. Thanks!
Okay, thanks! I mostly am looking for lore ideas.
maybe you could base it off of the wizard of oz?
make it have many conections
(sorry with my grammer)
(SORRY FOR BEING OFF TOPIC)
Whats that? Sorry.
Wait so their pasts all like connect in one way or another?
um sure??? @TACOS_AMZING
you know the wizard of oz?
heres a short explanation: there was this girl that got sent into the fantasy world with little people, shes on her way to go back to her world and she makes some friend on the way, and this nice witch asks if she can defeat this evil witch, and they do and then they all live happly ever after
Oh yes I know (sorry if this sounds mean or anything,) but I feel like it kind of doesn’t match the vibe I’m going for? I might incorporate some of that into the plot/theme though! (will give credit.)
ok, what theme are you going for? like what is the players goal? what do they do along the trip?
Ah.
I’m thinking that you should adapt this to be a variant of the Wizard of Oz, but instead of following 1 singular road, you can choose to go on different paths, thus leading to a different storyline.
So what structures do you plan to add other than a house with plants?
Maybe you could incorporate some sort of underground dungeon by overlaying a dark barrier over it. You can also add light sources and I can show u how to do it if u want.
Inside the dungeon you could add lore notes orbiting around the Witch and the evil versions of plants. Maybe the plants around your house at the start are good and the Witch’s goal is to overcome the entire world with evil plants. Your goal could be to collect a variety of secret ingredients to weaken the witch and fight her.
good idea, kinda like dnd maybe
Are you looking for darker (but not dark) fairytale vibes with this? Maybe do a forest maze a bit like Harry Potter 4. Also make it so the start of the game is you defeating the witch as a child and not knowing how and all the people you meet somehow know who you area as the witch was the strongest person on the forest. Make it so that it’s wider though and you have npcs and boss fights along the way, and then do a version of the portkey so that when you touch the trophy you go to the witch where she gets her followers back and comes back alive.
Ahhh yes, cottagecore, the best aesthetic ![]()
Cool details you can add to your map:
- Fairies [1] trapped in lanterns for their light
- A frog living alone in a hut that you can talk to, who gives you quests or just some cool extra dialogue
- An etymologist who pays you for finding unique bugs around the map (optional side quest)
- Side quest: help the local farmer find his escaped chickens [2]
- An antique shop that sells trinkets you can buy that unlock quests, give you stat buffs, reveal lore, or unlock an achievement
- You get your own little cottage that you can decorate with the items you’ve purchased
