So, I have a base line.(I love lore) In a castle, there are two levels bottom, have to hide (idea in) for 3 second from the Thing.then past some stuff(depending in platform or up-down) you go to the second level defeat a boss and such then done. (The person i take most inspiration is in credits)

You are fine, anyways, I was thinking top-down. You are in this castle and you get locked in by the THING and you have to pass level one to get two level two. Level one is a taste for level two. Level two has the boss
For level 1 you can add traps like lasers, sentries or zones that players have to pass to get to level 2. At the end of level 1 you could add props like a crate that contains any type of gadget that they can use to defeat the boss on level 2.
For level 2, the boss that is most likely a sentry, should have around 1,500 health, and when the boss is defeated by the player, then the player could earn some type of gadget or item that they can use throughout the game.
(This is all I could think of if this is what you meant.)

Maybe at the boss you fight the Thing, collecting ammo from around the room as sentry minions and the boss fire gadgets at you?

Ideas:
- The first level has some sentries that the thing summoned
- Also laser traps, and lava, maybe a secret armory with a miniboss.
