Hello all! I need some ORIGINAL idea’s for traps in a game i’m making, just some basic traps, nothing too fancy.
Top-down or platformer?

This guide will help. Maybe look at the trap tag? Anyways, for original ideas, maybe have something like a moving poison fog or lava that activates when a player enters a certain hallway. There’s also a poison fog guide link here if you need it. Or you could add some vines that grab you when you come close. Or just go with the classic poison darts and giant boulder trap.

I remember I saw a guide that explained if you place a barrier at one angle, and another one at another angle, you can trap the player there (where they will have to click a respawn button to get out).
I can’t find the guide at the moment though…

My first idea was to just have a button in the middle of nowhere (or just half way through the map) where if you press it, you get soft locked or just instantly respawn at the start of the map. Annoying but a good trap ![]()
You could put a camera view and then if they jump out of it then they get put in a soft lock. Idk

I’d assume what they mean by “Basic Trap” would be to make something simplistic- easy to build, if you will.

make a tube out of barriers and attach a teleporter at the top and one at the bottom
Have the teleporter at the bottom of the tube teleport you to the top. Have a counter counting how many times the player has teleported then after a set number have the bottom teleporter teleport you back or not
Trap for at the end of the game: A long twisting slope drop that has multiple exits with some bait jumps that instantly k!1l/reset the player to the start, some lead to paths with dead ends/more traps, and 1 or no actual escape back to the top (beyond a trap restarting you). Falling all the way down (40-60 tiles/blocks) ends the game.
This is basically just an escapable trap that can lead to more traps.
(Or, if you want to be evil with this one, make it so the paths you can jump to are random, so every new game you have no idea which is the one to jump through)
You could make something like the Fortnite spike trap
Like a deathrun trap.

the player is in a prison that only they can unlock but the key is given to another player but the prison has item decay and items decay in 1 second

Random idea: if you’v seen home alone, you should def do the paint bucket trap or something similar
