Ideas for Quick and Unique Mechanics

Yes, I have checked idea-catalog, but what are some battle and/or overworld mechanics that I might be able to use in a sewer explanation themed game?

I know what this is for (glad i didn’t compete)
Maybe a more effcient flashlight system that uses player coordinates, checkers, and barriers.

How about a sanitation meter? Since you’ll be in a sewer, which is obviously unsanitary, the environment itself could gradually damage you. For example, every 10 seconds, you lose 5 health due to the toxic conditions. We could also use a movement meter.

Water bending powers, you can bend that poopy water to your will and splash your enemies with the power of bacteria and water!

i have an idea: after ever minute you can get a random gadget (and the gadget you had before gets taken away)

You could also add health regen

to add to this: you could also have then have random damage boost, and speed boost
