Ideas for a Platformer if you’re willing

Hello! I’m here to ask for some ideas for map design and game mechanics for a game that I’m making. I know that there’s a lot of generic game ideas, but I’m looking for :sparkles: cool :sparkles: things. The gist of my map is that you are descending into caves, and I’d like some ideas for tricky jumps and prop designs, such as crystals or rocks. Also, I’m hoping for game mechanic ideas like maybe the player has to collect items? This game is basically an open book.

P.S. If you post, please don’t welcome me to the forum, that’s unnecessary clutter.

maybe like a platformer but with story line?

Maybe make barriers that slowly turn darker the deeper you go?
you could have torches that light up certain parts making them possible to do.
The deeper you go the less torches there are.

A lot of people use emojis for decoration if that’s helpful.

A neat mechanic could be that the jumps are on a timer? For instance, when you jump on a barrier it slowly fades to show it is disappearing?

You could also make several paths in the cave system. Players have to go one way to click a button or collect an item, which helps them continue on?

That’s a really great idea.

Could you explain this a little bit more? Would I use a trigger or a counter for this?

You would use a trigger by using a trigger delay.

I like that idea, but maybe you could use triggers in certain areas to make secret passages, kind of like an RPG

You would use a trigger and when the person steps on the trigger on the barrier it fades. You can make a fading effect by placing a solid barrier on the top and placing barriers that have decreasing alpha, right behind it. Each barrier would need a trigger delay.
