so I am making a game to where you have to find people in a desert like apocalyptic type thing but I just need ideas for the game
Add lore and story to it, to get the player interested in your game.
like how tho
Maybe add like a home-base where the player can be safe inside, or add a day and night cycle. When it’s day, it’s safer, but during the night, make it more likely for enemies to spawn.
how do I do the night/day cycle
Use pop-ups to create a story line. For example, when the player walks up to an old note or something, it could explain how the apocalypse happened and how to end it.
oh so like the notes in “the last of us”
It doesn’t have images, so ask me if you need help with figuring it out.
If you want a day and night cycle here it is.
get a trigger and make it invisible and not able to be triggered by walking on it.
make the delay however long you want for day time.
For day time, (base setting of the game) make a 0.11 transparency yellow/white barrier all over the game.
When the trigger is triggered, deactivate the barrier and make it activate a different barrier, this time the different barrier is 0.30 purple/black.
Get another trigger; and wire the first trigger to the new trigger, and make the new trigger’s delay to however long you want nighttime to be, and wire it to the yellow/white barrier so it appears when triggered.
umm add LORE if you want some I can write it for you
notes that you can find inside homes
or you can put it like a note dropped by a sentry, carved into a rock or, even told to you by a random turtle
technoblade never d!es
The most conventional method of putting lore in your game is just to let npcs talk
Or make cutscenes after large events
Gimkit original games tried approaches like putting lore all around the corner in random order and all that, and i wouldnt think it worked well as so far i have yet to find a person who legitimately got all the lore from the game, so just dont do that
