What about adding jump pads? If you replace health with fragility, you could make jump pads! Powerups that give you extra speed and damage or curses that do the opposite.
Did I hear the word lore? Well, here it goes. So, your character begins by talking to the king of wherever you are about this strange map he’s found in the dungeon. You touch it, and are thrown into the map. The map is of a kingdom, just like yours, but everything is just… off. As you travel through this land, you begin to unravel that this is the very near future, and this will only happen if the current king stays in power. You travel to the top of the highest mountain in the map to get out. And then you have to defeat the king before the kingdom becomes a dystopian empire.

Maybe tell the story from the perspective of a thief! You could have different missions to unlock like taking a treasure chest from a dragon or a staff from a wizard. Maybe have hidden rooms or tunnels behind props with collision off.

I like both ideas so I’ll probably do both
You are a noble swordsman trying to save the king from and evil wizard that has risen the ground way up to the sky and you now have to jump all the way up to save the king.
Side quest - Gather materials for a healing item
