They have a defined structure and a defined audience. You should make sure your gameās game plan is clear and planned out before you work on minor details. Ask yourself how will the player progress through the game? How will players interact with the world? Is it platformer or top down? Overly gimmicky games tend to be super confusing and distasteful for players so donāt go insane.
You should also ask yourself who youāre making this game for. Is this just for the stumbling person scrolling through Gimkit Creative Discovery? Are you making this for a group of friends? Donāt make your audience too broad however because youād rather have some non-Harry Potter fans have a lackluster experience rather than having everyone not enjoy it all.
Also donāt stay stuck on making every little detail perfectly perfect! Your map wonāt go anywhere if you just continue adding little references in your lobby without making the basic jumps your map will have. Make it exist first then improve upon it later. Your map will be set up for success if you consider these tips."

I said no apps for advertisements, but I could give a link to a Google document & have a video of an advertisement.
And make the advertisement on a designing app like Canvas.

This is what got me on no advertisingā¦
Being honest, your only shot of your map getting popular is if you somehow get ridiculously lucky if youāre not posting on sites such as the Wix or Discord since the forums here wonāt get you very far on getting new players. I mean, you may get some plays by putting your publish link in your profile and having some curious folks clicking it, but to be honest, who the heck does that? At least, I donāt personally just check profiles that often.
Iād highly recommend recommending that you let us folks from the Discord play your game in a game night (if thatās possible) as we often look for good games to play. If we find itās an absolute banger, weāll usually replay it for a few game night, and perhaps some folks could even take their own time to play it solo.
Edit:
I do not mind the pings. They arenāt intrusive (at least not as much as the Discord ones are lol) to me, and I wonāt be really bothered about it. I appreciate the thought though.

I could swear advertising games is banned on rules for this forum. Without advertising youāre usually cooked unless you get on grab bag or new maps for a sustained time. Please donāt post something like this again. I just looked, itās bannable.

Yeah, as previously stated, if you want to advertise, use a different website, like the wix, the chess forums club, discord, padlets, or others.

Ok, now that I know that, I wonāt advertise on the forum. But I have an idea. How about I make an advertisement video on Canvas, take a video of it, then put it on a Google document. Then I will put the URL of the document on the description.
