Are you interested in learning how to effectively create the character Rush for your game “Doors”? Here are all of the details you need to know!
We all know what Rush looks like. So, to create Rush, you need some devices: Barriers, Zones, Popups (optional, depending on what kind of Screen you want), a Damager (optional, if you desire the player to take damage by Rush, you can), and Triggers.
1.) The Barrier Shape has to be a circle. The barrier must to be deactivated when the game starts. Change the color to grayish (try to get as close as the color of Rush). The Alpha will be at 1.00, the Show Border and Visible In-Game will stay the same, and deactivate the collision. Finally, adjust the size.
(YOU WILL NEED MANY, IT DEPENDS ON HOW LONG IT WILL GO)
2.) Next, you will utilize a zone and adjust the shape to a circle and the size of the zone.
Once that’s done, everything from the Featured, Items, and Channels will remain identical, as long as the zone isn’t visual. Then, you will put “No” to “Activate On Game Start”. Now, you can duplicate as many of those 2 devices as you want. In this map, I will do 5 times.
3.) Now, to make the Screen, you will need the Popup. This is your choice to choose how you like to modify the
Screen.
This is how I made it:
3a.) The Header Text: You are finished
3b.) Context Text:
3c.) Color Background: R(112), G(72), B(72)
3d.) Make another popup
3e.) The Header Text: ☾
3f.) Context Text: You are finished because of Rush
3g.) Color Background: Choose the color that is closely the color of Guiding Light
4a.) If you want to use Wires for this, follow these steps, if you want to use Channels, go to 4b.) By all the zones you have, you will use a wire from one zone, to the popup.
Then, you will modify the wire to: When the player enters zone —> Open popup
Then, you will do the same thing to the other zones you have.
Or if you want the player to be damaged by Rush, you can use the Damager instead of the popup.
4b.) If you are using Channels, click on a zone (DO THIS TO ALL OF THE REST OF THE ZONES), go to the Channel Section, and where it says “When a player enters the zone, transmit on”, you will type in “ Screen” or “Deal Damage” if you are doing damage. Or you can type anything you want, as long as you understand it, you’re good.
Then, you will go to the Popup, and where it says “Open popup when receiving on”, you will add the text you added to the zone.
5.) Now it’s time for Rush to move. You will need triggers for this. If you copied Rush five times, like me, you will need 6 triggers. When you have 6 triggers, select one trigger, where it says “Trigger Delay”, you will put 7, type 1 on “Max Triggers”,
and choose “No” on “Trigger By Player’s Collision”.
6.) For the rest of the five triggers, put 0.3 on “Trigger Delay”, put 1 on “Max Triggers”, and choose “No” on “Trigger By Player’s Collision”.
7.) This is where it gets a little tricky. For the trigger you set up from Step 5, you will use a wire to connect one of the triggers from Step 6.
In that wire, you will modify it to: When it triggered —> Trigger
Then you will do that again to the rest of them BUT DON’T USE THE TRIGGER FROM STEP 5 ANY MORE!
8.) The trigger from Step 5, you will use it from the first Rush.
8a.) Use a wire from Step 5 Trigger to the first Rush and zone
In that wire, you will modify it to: When it triggered —> Activate barrier
And for the zone, use another wire from the trigger to the zone, modify it to: When it triggered —> Activate Zone
8b.) Then you will use another trigger that is not the trigger that delays 7 seconds and connect it to the barrier and zone that you previously used. In those wires, you will modify it to: When it triggered —> Deactive barrier/Zone.
8c.) Now that the first Rush is done, it’s time for the other five. Take another barrier (Rush), another zone, and the same trigger (that delays 0.3sec) you used for the previous Rush. Then use a wire connecting the trigger to the barrier (Rush) and the zone.
In that wire, you will modify it to: When it triggered —> Activate barrier
And for the zone, use another wire from the trigger to the zone, modify it to: When it triggered —> Activate Zone
Now, you will do the same step as 8b.).
Now, you will repeat Steps 8c.) to 8b.) DON’T START WITH 8b.) THEN 8c.)!!!
Now, to test it, add a button, use a wire from the button to the trigger that delays 7 seconds, and modify the wire to When the button pressed —> Trigger.
You can start the game, press the button, and see how Rush moves.
If you want Rush to move faster or slower, you can adjust all the triggers that delay 0.3 sec to # of seconds you want. The fastest is 0.1.
