I doubt you could actually make it scary, not saying that you lack the skill, but Gimkit in itself isn’t designed to be a horror factory. Plus we need the games to be kid-friendly and acceptable to be shown in a class room full of 6 year olds.
@Toothless has a point it is ment to be kid friendly but if it were to be scary like someone chasing you, what if you placed triggers to activate sentry with a wepon like a blaster

but if its a private experience meant to be shared with friends then you could make gimkit kind of scary without getting into any sort of trouble
you can try and set up good ambience
and do a little bit of research into real horror games that people enjoy and find horrifying
you dont need jumpscares but you can set up expectations
i dont make horror so take all of that with a grain of salt
something that could be useful to take a look at would maybe be squirrel stapler
although it has bright graphics and looks like a game for kids
it would be scary even if all of the violence was removed
you can watch a video essay on why because i cant really quite explain it
your best bet is psychological horror probably
