I looked at some of the other forum posts and people are saying its not possible without a season ticket, but that was like a year or two ago? is it possible yet without a season ticket?

Platforming is free now, although there was a bug showing that you requires season ticket to create a Platformer map, you can just ignore it and create one.
If you still can’t create one, make sure your map name is long enough to be created.

Yes you can, just go to create a new map and select platformer and you will be in the new free engine!
