Help with AOE damage with skill casting

I need help with creating the actual thing that makes a skill unique - what the skill does.

So when the player activates their skill, a quick animation plays and a group of enemies are supposed to take AOE damage (think Pure Vanilla Awakened skill) where shards of Compassion are supposed to damage the enemies.

Uh.
How make?

I have a line of sentries and one very confused player.

(Yeah, it’s a boring RPG game, you can choose your character etc.)

i will regret this

You could do some simple trigger animation with the shard. If you have shards already made, then I would just place a zone that damages the area you want the AOE in.

If you want it really advanced, you could place zones that activate with the animation of the shards and have them follow the shards. That would require a lot more memory.

cant you just like use maybe a timekeeper gadget with sentries

I can’t use a normal timekeeper as it’s a skill meaning it adds to the damage a gadget does. Sorry.

Also, I think the time keeper has way to small of an AOE.

Maybe you can use a damage booster and lower it.

You have to realize that Monochrome said in the first post that this is an animation attack. Not just the gadget.

oh but I though it could be like sentries on top out of view hitting emenies I guess for like 4 secs with like a gadget like timekeeper then they dissapear but I do get ur point

true but alot of them is kind of big imo

They want an animation, not sentries with gadgets. The easiest way to do so would be placing a zone hooked up with a damage device. Also, sentries would show the bullets and could miss. That would make the attack look not as cool in my opinion.

true there but with the shards from timekeeper they do kind of look like the skill he said imo

Well, that is the OP’s decision on what they want. I would say this is solved.

ok so we came to a concluison

Wait, but wouldnt it need to be a tag zone if they want aoe damage?

It’s sentries not players.
