Help with a new game

So, i’ve been getting obsessed with Homer’s poem, The Odyssey. More specifically, Jorge Rivera-Herrans Epic the Musical, and there is one thing that stood out to me. Both the musical and the poem, and that’s when Odysseus comes home and slaughters all the suitors…

Anyways, I wanted to make a game based off of that, but I have no idea where to start. I have a basic idea on how I want the game to go, I just don’t know how to do the hard stuff like the mechanics and stuff like that. So here’s how the game goes.

There are two teams. Odysseus and the suitors. Odysseus has only one person on their team, whereas the suitors have everyone else. The suitors have to find 7 keys in order to unlock the armory, which when they unlock the armory, they get gadgets to fight Odysseus.

Odysseus health -5000
Suitors health-200

If someone can help me with the mechanics, such as how to make it so that the game knows when you have the seven keys, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Quick edit- is there something I can do to make it so that there can only be one person on team Odysseus, and everyone else becomes a suitor?

You could use an inventory manager to keep track of the keys, so that when it reaches 7, it triggers an event… (an event such as a door opening)

I think counters can track items? Or, if not, you can have each item granter transmit on a channel that makes a counter go up. When the counter reaches 7, have it transmit on a channel to unlock the armory.

Oh, I love the Odyssey! My one friendo is obsessed with Epic the Musical so I’ll hafta point this game out to her once it’s published
