Do I hear LOOOOORRRRRRREEEEEEE?
King Gimrick VII of the Emberwall Kingdom has sent you, Sirath of The Royal Guard, to investigate a disturbance in the Southern Plains. Passing travellers have told stories of strange and ancient magic transforming the local druids into mindless raging beasts who attack and absorb any living things in sight. As you travel along the Storm Trail, a central trade route running between your kingdom and the Druid Enclave, and further down to the southeast coast of Gimia, you encounter a variety of eccentric travellers (quest givers from other posts). Upon arriving in the Enclave, you are bombarded with a variety of urgent events, presented with the choice of escorting refugees from an alley to the Storm Trail, saving a family from a building besieged by basic Druids, or going straight for the Terramancer, the leader of the druids who seeks to expand their territory through dark magicks from ancient tomes stolen from the tomb of Lord Ozirus in the Western Desert. Upon defeating the Terramancer, you may return to Emberwall, though you are also free to roam and complete side quests from the various travellers you encounter on the Storm Trail, and these quests may take you to the ancient ruins of the Western Desert, further south to the shores of the Contested lands, in which two tribes known as Whirlpool and Sonar, the ancient ancestors of modern day Echo and Vortex. To the east lies a vast sea, infested with piracy beseiging trade with the continent of Blookica. And to the north are the Darkened Woods resting at the feet of the Dragonclaw Mountains, in which it is rumored dwarves, dragons, and sentient ores roam the caves in and around Mt. Snowy, a legendary place where it is told you may obtain vast treasures. The Woods themselves are off limits, made too dangerous by roaming hordes of hostile wildlife such as Geckasaurus and Fuzzfoot packs, a remnant of the Cthulhu Conflict which transpired in the reign of King Gimrick III.

This is a base template for regional background and history without much detail into main or side quests, as i want to make sure the setting is good before I develop those. Is this good for your need for different regions @Dungeonmaster ?

Well.. pretty good lore, though it doesnt really fit an open air, but i’ll input some of these, and maybe some of your ideas for regions
(I’ll credit if i put them)

What could I improve with this lore if I see a similar request to yours in the future?

Make sure it fits the type of the game (like this would fit in a linear one)
If its another open air probably dont focus on what the main character does(because there are lots of choices)
One more thing, probably make it into paragraphs so its easier to read
Otherwise, good lore!

Yeah, paragraphs is valid, I know I sort of word vomit, and as for not being linear, I tried doing that, as I had the main story start, with splintering into different choices, and the offerings of side quests from travellers, so could you please elaborate on how to further emphasize a non linear story beyond what I tried?

So, an open world usually has a TON of choices, so in making lore, as i said, dont say what the player does, just say general things
And make more of freedom, i can sort of see that you put in some quests and choices, but i dont really see how they matter to the lore,
Also, you talked about a quest sending you to a region, but open airs usually allow you to move there and back
Thanks for contribution!

Anyone else have any ideas? It can be suggestions on mechanics and stuff

I still need more ideas, bump

.. i bumped myself three times in a row…

so for mechanics I would first need to know if its platformer or top down(but it doesn’t really matter) but the mechanic is that maybe(if the story has to do something with portals or like dimesions) maybe you can make it so with glasses or something(with a game overlay) you can see different stuff like a wall that with the glasses disapears making you able to progress. Which could encourge replaying the game after u beat it(not ended it though).Another idea could also be a diving system but it could rlly only work in platformer, another one that is basically(classes) like the ones from dead rails(from roblox). That just give you different abilitys. Also maybe potions and you can mix and drink that could give you different effects(this could rlly be done only with the gameoverlays). With I guess a charcter that maybe has a shop with potions and like using the crafting table you make “mix” potions. Another one maybe(this is a silly one) but maybe if there is a shop you can make it that you can be in debt and the more “debt” you have the harder stuff could be. LIke just getting through maybe civilised places would be harder since things like the “cops” could track u. And if you have the season ticket characters mentioning u can maybe just replace ur name with like a evil person or smth. Also maybe also a fast travel button for stuff and with that also like a little side quest of finding the “something”(which can be anything) and like with the fast travel the more “somethings” that you find you can get rewards and stuff. Also maybe a second life system that basically when you are supposed to respawn instead of going to the spawn pad you respawn in the same cords and basically you lose almost all your stuff and you would have to beat ur"dead/lost" body to get your stuff back(like the thing from hollow knight.

..Top down
Yes glasses
No classes
Yes potion yes shop
Whats the point of shop if there is debt
Already have fast travel
Hollow night shade is gimpossible…
Thanks a lot! Maybe if there are some more ideas here i would mark it

Add a boss. Every game needs a boss.

Well.. i am doing bosses but can you give a specific boss and its abilities?
Format:
Name of boss
Gim
Health
Location and how to access
Abilities/mechanics
Reward

Hmm… Let’s see… well, what theme of boss do you want?

Well.. there are a lot of areas since its open air, so any theme should be fine
No brainrot

Alright,

Squidward

The Prehistoric One
Chompz
750 health, 250 shield
Some forest or cave
Bro has a wooden wand, and abilities I’m supposed to be doing geography right now so I don’t know
Somethin’ special, like his gadget.

…shield?
I do want specific ones, so write specific abilities when you are available pls, i will credit you if i implement them

Shield is like, well, that blue health bar that you have. Sentries have those too. Abilities, you’re gonna have to wait till I’m in math, maybe.
