Fox and hound game ideas

I’m making this game in another game engine
but I’m settling out for a rough topdown version of it in gimkit first before that
but so far to make things understandable i’ll list a couple things

game rules/mechanics

  1. the fox gets a 30-60 second headstart and will always leave a trail for the hound to follow

  2. both the fox and the hounds will get abilities to choose from at the start of the game

  3. map modifiers will popup every 20-30 seconds of the 120 second round (2 minutes)

  4. the fox will have an initially higher speed then the hounds

  5. the fox will have a health bar enabled while the hounds will not so if they are caught/damaged the game will not end until that bar reaches 0

  6. (also do note stamina will be implemented but the fox will have like triple the hounds stamina)

that and I need pixel concept art/ or sprites for the fox or hound chars. design em how you’d like but if no one takes up on that i’ll just make it myself :P

what exactly do you need ideas for? Like what will you do or map design

i can try the map design
tell me what areas you want, like biomes and stuff

ability ideas (both fox and hound)
map ideas (or map design like you said because I am very doodoo at making map layouts without making the inside of an ant hill)
map modifier ideas

winter, fall, and night themes

no like, that’s like a event for the map, do you want any caves, forests, lakes, etc

btw, you can still do that by showing and hiding snow and leaf props, transperent black barrier for the night

I think the gimkit game time limit is 60 mins. Also, I think people will quit after waiting for 30 mins.

Fox abilities

  1. Teleport to a random location.
  2. Trick, confuse the hounds and slows them (or freeze) down for 3 seconds.

Hound abilities

  1. Be able to see the location of the fox for 2 seconds.

I will come up with more later.
Maybe there could also be foods for the fox around the map so it can heal, such as 1 chicken egg equals 5 hp.


Also how much abilities can the fox have at a time?

Yeah sure I give you some ability ideas. I’ll get back to you in a while.

I’ll start modeling the gk version of the map after I get done with the veterans day ceremony at school

also what do yall think is better?

  • 8 directional movement
  • freeform movement

8 directions will probs req more effort (animation wise)
but freeform I can just use physics joints (think rain world kinda movement)

How you will make a top down map into that?

disregarding the fact that it’s a platformer
im just taking inspo from how the main player char moves
not really much else other than that
