Cozy Cottage Tutorial [Difficulty 1/10 or 🟩]

To celebrate the addition of a HUGE amount of props added to the list in GKC thanks to the new update, I tossed together a quick little tutorial using just a few of them. Today, I’ll be showing you a way to make a cottage!

Instructions

If your default terrain isn’t already grass, create a little patch of grass that will be the “lawn” of the cottage.

Next, fence it in using wooden fences or other fence-like structures.

This next step will take a hot second, but the final look will definitely be worth it. Using small stone barriers, create rows of bricks. If you don’t know how, set them up like in the image below.

Here’s what it’ll look like.

After that, create a ‘roof’ using a large snow pile and tinting it red. Also, add a chimney by using a stone column with a chunk out of it. There are various other ways to build a roof, but this one is the simplest to me.

Add some windows using tables (or other circular props), and blackboard legs. Also, add a door using a black barrel.

Add some smaller details, like stepping stones using cutting boards, or patches of grass using alien plants, or a tree. Maybe even add a pond or a garden of some sorts! Get creative!

And that’s it! I know it was fairly short, but I wanted to leave a lot of room for you to make whatever creative decisions you wanted, so this is really just a base for whatever direction you want to go with your own creation. Don’t feel like you have to follow my steps exactly, do what you like!

Thanks for reading, please let me know what you think!!

Should I make an interior tutorial as a sequel?

Great job!

This is really good.1 suggestion.Add an invisible teleporter that goes to an actual inside portion of the house! That would be cool, right!

Yes! I definitely planned on adding this, but due to the time I wanted to spend on the tutorial and overall length of the instructions, I ended up going against it, but maybe I’ll make a sequel for the interior in the future?

Great guide! But I would rate this as a 1/10 not a 2.

I put it as a 2/10 since the brick process is a mildly difficult thing to get a grip on.

If you use grid snap it will align the bricks for you and simetricaly. So it is not super difficult. No affense.

the bricks are resized, and in order to have them do the alternating gaps, they have to overlap

OK that does not matter, if you size a brick one way and grid snap it then add a different resized brick and grid snap it, it will still look the same. Let me show you what I mean.

So it’s possible to do something like this with grid snap?
