yes the zone and barrier needs to be as thin as possible
all settings are default except for the barrier must be deactivated on game start and the trigger isnt visible
wires:
player enter zone → activate barrier
player leave zone → trigger
triggered → deactivate barrier
so now, if you try it, you will see it will close the door when you try and enter it.
but now, here’s the fun part
if you give your gim 4x speed and try to do the same thing, you will notice that when you try to walk through the door you will go through the barrier for a split second and then be teleported back (is this a bug?). this is what your gim can and cannot do while being through the barrier for that split second of time
trigger zones - X
trigger triggers - X
press buttons - O
trigger teleporters - X
from my tests you can only press buttons (if they’re instant press), but everything else you cannot interact with.
this can be used to see secret text devices and activate buttons
q
is this a bug?
is this caused by gimkit or poor wifi?
I added a position tracker and your position in the server doesnt change while your bugged through the barrier, so its a visual bug
this explains why triggers and zones and teleporters cannot be interacted with while being bugged because it seems to use coordinates. but, this doesn’t explain why buttons CAN be interacted with.
This happens in some other ways. It’s because your half in the barrier and half to the left when it activates so it lets you through but then realises you were on the other side so it takes you back.
Yes this is a bug but does it really affect the game? This would probably happen 1 out of 100 times in a map.
It’s just delay.
Sometimes when my network is slow it rewinds you a lil or a speed modifier activates late, and also reset some of your progress (this can happen if you delete a prop or device too.)
I would say its delay. The player is going too fast for the game to register where its supposed to be, so it waits a split second, then send the character to where it should be.
(Oh, didn’t see that yaypie posted something similar, sorry)
Ok, so this happens because the barrier is being activated slower than the player is moving, causing a slight delay, making your gim jerk back and forth for a second, seen in the gif you made.
Other than that, it is pretty neat. Interesting find.
