Can you copy wires along with their connecting objects?

I often have to copy systems of objects, but their wires do not carry over, so I must reconnect all of the objects’ wires individually.
Am I doing something wrong, is this feature just too complex to implement, or is this a simple oversight by the developers?
Has anyone else had this problem?

This is intentional, as shown in the guide to channels. So no, you can’t copy wires.
