By blurring a player’s vision, I mean having objects/background be kind of…how do I put this… fuzzy? Not like in the sense of like fuzzy fur, but distorted and odd.

um… maybe add semi-transparent barriers that go in a cycle that really distorts a lot of colours on screen
in a cycle? Can you elaborate on that? Not really sure I understand.
like if you have an area, then make a ‘mosaic’ of barriers in all different colors creating a clashing contrast between different parts of the screen
are you trying to make it permanent blurry or just temporary
