Hey guys! This is my first post, so it’s a little weird making this for me, but anyways, I’m gonna teach you how to change names of props and devices!
Now, it’s actually quite easy, but I’ll give you the steps.
So, over here, you can see the prop menu. Click the name of the prop.
It should show a screen saying “Enter name here”, and thennenter whatever name you want. And there you go! The reason why this is helpful is the name of the prop/device will show up in layers and the wires section of the prop/device menu!
Welcome to the form and great first guide! I did make a guide that mentioned this tip but I don’t think there are any guides that are exclusively about it.
Welcome to the forum and nice first guide, @zap_bolt! You’re already doing great! This guide had a difficulty, clear instructions, and a screenshot (maximum 1 for new users)! Nice job!
Thank you all for giving me such nice replies, but I have a question. When people said you can get banned for sharing codes on the forum, do they really mean it?
Great guide! This will really help me in the future since I like to put a lot of detail into my lobby. This will help me organize everything, and also @zap_bolt welcome to the forums! And if you aren’t already. If you want to share codes. Here is the link to the wixsite: https://gimkitcreative.wixsite.com/game-sharing
(idk if this post is flag-able im still kinda new.)
Thanks! This is a really neat feature that I had no clue about but just asking, does anyone have any ideas on how this can be used? Because unless this can rename items, I can’t think of any use for it off the top of my head.
Welcome to the forum!
This can be used in highly decorated maps and pinpointing special ones in the Layers menu. For example, if you just decided you want to have a floating crate, you could name it Floating Crate. When in layers, you can then easily point out the floating crate.
Welcome to the forum! It’s also useful if your map heavily uses triggers with block code. If you rename the devices you don’t have to look at the block menu every time you want to find a certain trigger.
