A hacker has a question

mates, I need elaboration on an idea I keep having
I WANNA MAKE A GAME about American Ninja Warrior - please somebody help me with game design and levels as well as the obstables
an maybe mechanics too idk - I have warped wall mechanics, with random rngs for certain location, so nothing about that is needed except maybe design

Google ANW if you don’t know what it is!

Maybe when you hang on to obstacles like monkey rings there is a skill check on a overlay at the bottom of the screen and you must complete it to go to the next one

Also another idea is that the player builds up speed when running and it resets when he stands still

I’d assume difficult parkour would be your go-to. Difficult as in DIFFICULT. Not necessarily Blackhole-laser-parkour difficult, but challenging enough to where your player needs a relative strength in Gimkit parkour to complete it.

A dash mechanic would be really cool, and maybe QTE for climbing.

Well, the problem with parkour is that it will only work for a few obstacles. What I want is to RNG between different courses (LV, KC, etc. - can do this). You have to advance through there, then to Semifinals (I have to look it up, idr where it is), and then finals, where there’s the four stages to complete.
dash mechanic could work
wuz qte again

lol, it means Quick Time Event.

I see what you mean. Do you have a rough idea on how you would make obstacles without “parkour”? If so, I’m sure we could branch from there.

tbh the monkey bar type idea is good. How about the swinging bars, like the Salmon Bar, or something like the wall where u go up and down on the handholds.
now that I’m thinking abt it, a lot of it would be skill checks. I might need to make a skill based system where u choose which skills of three you want to be better for you with rng: stamina, strength, or speed

I’m assuming this is platform, am I correct? [1]

  1. it may sound like a stup!d question but I am just making sure! ↩︎

Originally, it was going to be top-down, but I realized plat just works so much better.

ANW was my childhood!

Welp, for a gimkit game, you gotta remake the classic-

SHRINKING STEPS

meaning you could just add a huge block and go from biggest to littlest.

Maybe blocks that “fall down” (or js disappear) as you jump on them? Also, maybe a slope jump at the very end to represent the ramp? Idk

thanks, but I already said I have all the ideas needed for the warped wall

like actually guys ik what QTE stands for but what does it mean? bj only told me what it stood for

QTE is like a skill check, where you have to push buttons to complete an event. Like to dodge an attack

anybody else got ideas??

uh random question about the design. What is the color scheme? Is it going to be like red and blue?
Or something else

red, blue, white, gray, black, and possible yellow/orange/green

Does anyone else have ideas, or is this all?
If no one replies by the time I get back from school, I will resolve this topic.

Maybe a climbing wall where the blocks you climb on teleport every 2 seconds but maybe not all of them [1]

  1. This is a good idea btw, nobody has made this sort of map before ↩︎

  1. Make the player stand on a block that constantly move forwards, making them jump through obstacles while moving
  2. A normal-relatively-easy parkour, but the players has to move constantly or would get respawned
  3. Qte climbing, so basically when you are climbing a wall, an animation on the right shows a circle enclosing into another circle, and you press an overlay at the short time that they collide(like some rhythm games), and if you fail too many you fail the climb
  4. Make a lot of animations, I feel like it adds to the hype
