First off, I can’t stress this enough. Many high-quality maps even don’t do this. Please, please please make it so if you’re doing a DLD type map, PLEASE make the checkpoint only be activated once. It really makes people mad when they’re at the top and fall, then randomly touch the first checkpoint ._.
How?
Change this setting to once. Simple, but game-changing. Even if the person can’t hit the same checkpoint again, it’s just stylish and looks professional.
Something else that isn’t needed quite as much, but just put it for players ease.
An UPDATE LOG
What? No not an actual log
I mean an update log. Like keep track of what you’re updating. If you continue to show updates maybe in pregame, people will recognize it. This is one way to get more plays, if you add an update say maybe just a text with the date it happened and what you changed, then people will notice you’re making updates and play again and again, without an update log, updates small or a little big can go mainly unnoticed.
I agree but blackhole said that as long as the guide is original and provides useful information, it doesn’t matter if it’s somewhat short or a duplicate. @Jobozo1875 I don’t know why you aren’t responding, but dtgh, video due tomorrow.
This is really cool and useful! But SirWyWy already made a similar guide to this, not saying that this guide shouldn’t be made, you should definitely add some more unique stuffs!
In general, this is an AMAZING tip when making maps. I personally love doing it as it tells people what you changed so they can go out of their way to look for them.
You can also make the logs cryptic (I’ve done it before) and it’s almost like a lore hunt inside your game (always fun).
an update log is something that is important for any kind of map, not exclusively platformer.
maybe you could add that you should make mechanics for you platformer that are different from the rest, so you can have it be more fun.
